mGanna Sodium Hydroxide Pellet Bags Recalled Over Chemical Burn Risk

mGanna sodium hydroxide pellet bags sold on Amazon by Archie Xpress are recalled because the packaging is not child-resistant, risking chemical burns to skin and eyes.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The product contains sodium hydroxide, a corrosive chemical that poses a risk of serious chemical burns and eye irritation. Although no injuries have been reported, the hazard is significant and the packaging fails to meet mandatory child-resistant standards, meeting the rubric criterion for High severity.

Plain-English summary

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled mGanna Sodium Hydroxide (lye) Pellet Bags. The product is packaged in a vacuum-sealed clear plastic bag inside a white zip-top pouch with a tear-away feature, and the front of the package states "mGanna SODIUM HYDROXIDE (NaOH)".

The recall is due to the packaging not being child-resistant as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). Sodium hydroxide is a corrosive substance that can cause chemical burns and irritation to the skin and eyes if mishandled. The products also violate the labeling requirements for hazardous substances under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act (FHSA).

About 3,240 units were sold online at Amazon.com from November 2024 through March 2026 for about $10. The distributor is Dhanlaxmi Ashish Ganna, dba Archie Xpress, of India. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and secure it out of sight and reach of children. Contact Archie Xpress for a full refund by writing "RECALLED" on the back of the zip-top pouch and sending a photo of the marked pouch to [email protected]. Consumers should then dispose of the pellets in accordance with local and state regulations, following household hazardous waste (HHW) guidance for corrosive solids. Archie Xpress can be reached at 302-261-5337 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or via email at [email protected].
