ZLINE Built-In Electric Wall Ovens Recalled for Impact Injury Hazard

ZLINE Kitchen and Bath is recalling about 5,000 built-in electric wall ovens because the oven door hinge can dislodge and release the spring, which may break through the door trim and cause impact injuries. Consumers should stop using the recalled ovens immediately.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (dislodging door spring and broken trim) where injury has not yet been widely reported. Although one minor injury was reported among 95 reported incidents, the hazard is primarily a mechanical defect that poses a risk to users. This fits the High severity criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not been extensively documented.

Plain-English summary

ZLINE Kitchen and Bath, of Reno, Nevada, is recalling approximately 5,000 built-in electric wall ovens with model numbers AWS-30, AWD-30, AWS-30-BS, AWD-30-BS, AWSS-30, and AWDS-30. The recalled single-door and double-door ovens were sold in stainless steel and black stainless finishes and were manufactured between November 2020 and December 2021.

The oven door hinge can dislodge, releasing the spring. This can damage or break through the door trim, posing an impact injury hazard to consumers. ZLINE has received 95 reports of incidents in which the door spring released or broke through the top of the oven door. One minor injury has been reported.

The recalled ovens were sold nationwide from December 2020 through September 2022 at Best Buy, Lowe's, The Home Depot, and The Range Hood Store, as well as online at bestbuy.com, build.com, costco.com, homedepot.com, therangehoodstore.com, overstock.com, and wayfair.com, priced between $1,900 and $3,950.
