What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (crush hazard) where injury has not yet been reported, which aligns with the 'High' severity criteria in the rubric.
Plain-English summary
BRP U.S. Inc. is recalling approximately 650 Can-Am Off-Road screw jacks sold in the United States. These silver-colored accessories with black bases are used to lift Maverick X3 side-by-side vehicles for tire changes. The recall also affects about 54 units sold in Canada.
The screw jacks can collapse, causing the lifted vehicle to fall on a person. This poses a crush hazard that can result in severe injury or death. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
The recalled screw jacks were sold at Can-Am Off-Road dealers nationwide and online at can-am-shop.brp.com from October 2017 through October 2020 for about $500. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact a BRP Can-Am Off-Road dealer to receive a full refund. For more information, consumers can call BRP toll-free at 888-272-9222 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Monday through Sunday or visit the "Safety recalls" section of the BRP website.
