BRP is recalling approximately 1,600 Can-Am ATVs, including 2010 and 2011 Outlander and Renegade models. The recall addresses a defect in the Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) main shaft, which can crack and detach. These detached pieces can block gears, resulting in limited steering ability and a loss of control hazard that poses a risk of serious injury or death to the operator.

The affected vehicles were sold at Can-Am dealerships nationwide between September 2009 and November 2011 for prices ranging from $6,800 to $13,500. BRP has received two reports of broken DPS units resulting in limited steering ability, but no injuries have been reported.
