Plain-English summary
BRP U.S. Inc. is recalling approximately 13,300 model year 2018 Can-Am Outlander and Renegade all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The recall involves specific models and colors, including the Outlander 450, 570, 650, 6X6, DPS, MAX, MOS, WIN, XT, XTP, and XXC series, as well as the Renegade 570, 850, 1000, and XXC series. The vehicles were sold at Can-Am dealers nationwide from June 2017 through June 2018 for between $6,000 and $16,500.
The recall is due to a defect where fuel can spray from the fuel tank when the gas cap is opened. This poses a fuel leak and fire hazard. The firm has received six reports of fuel spraying out of the fuel tank, but no injuries or fires have been reported.
