Primo Recalls hTrio Beverage Dispensers Due to Burn Hazard

Primo is recalling hTrio beverage dispensers because hot water may leak at high altitudes, posing a burn risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where a burn injury has been reported, but the hazard is specific to high-altitude usage and does not meet the criteria for Severe or Critical severity.

Plain-English summary

Primo Water Operations Inc. is recalling approximately 11,000 Primo hTrio Multi-purpose beverage dispensers. The recall involves units purchased on or before December 31, 2017, which provide hot and cold water and brew hot beverages. The affected model numbers are 601225, 601229, and 601240, which are printed on the bottom of the product.

The dispensers pose a burn hazard because hot water can drip from the machine when used in high-altitude areas over 6,000 feet in elevation. Primo has received three reports of hot water leaking from the product in these areas, including one report of a burn injury to a customer's hand.

The dispensers were sold at Sam's Club, Walmart, and online at Amazon.com and Wayfair.com from January 2017 through December 2017 for between $200 and $250. Consumers in high-altitude areas over 6,000 feet in elevation should immediately stop using the recalled dispensers and contact Primo for a free replacement. Consumers can contact Primo toll-free at 866-429-7566 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.primowater.com and click on Recall Information.
