These plastic stools, designed to look like a gray hippopotamus, were sold online at squattypotty.com and Amazon.com from September 2017 through November 2017 for about $50. The stools were manufactured in China.

The recall is due to a hazard where the top removable step, referred to as the "hat," can detach while a child is standing on it. This poses injury and fall hazards. Squatty Potty has received two reports of children falling from the stools. In one incident, a child hit her chin on the toilet and bit the inside of her mouth, causing bleeding. In another, a child fell and hit his head on a wall.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled step stools until they remove the hat. They should contact Squatty Potty for instructions on returning the hat portion of the stool for a $10 refund.
