The nocks were sold separately in packages of 12 and as original equipment with Ravin crossbows and arrows. Additionally, about 3,600 nocks were sold in Canada.

The recall is due to an injury hazard. If the nock is not fully engaged with the bowstring, the crossbow can fail to discharge when the trigger is pulled. This can result in the bow discharging while the user is re-nocking the arrow. The company has received 44 reports of the nocks malfunctioning, including 23 reports of finger injuries, six of which were serious.

The nocks were sold at Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, Dick's Sporting Goods, and other stores nationwide from October 2016 through November 2017. They were sold separately for between $8 and $15, or included with crossbows priced between $1,500 and $2,000 and arrows priced between $75 and $110.
