The hazard involves unintended discharge of a mechanical device capable of causing puncture and laceration injuries, requiring immediate consumer action.
Plain-English summary
This recall involves white plastic molded clip-on nocks used in arrows for Ravin brand crossbows. The nocks were sold in packages of 12 from October 2016 through November 2017 at retailers including Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, and Dick's Sporting Goods. They were also sold as original equipment with Ravin R9 and R15 crossbows and Ravin arrows. About 220,000 units were distributed in the United States, plus about 3,600 in Canada.
If the white nock is not fully engaged with the bowstring, the crossbow can fail to discharge when the trigger is pulled. This can result in the bow discharging while the user is re-nocking the arrow, posing an injury hazard. The manufacturer has received 51 reports of finger injuries while nocking or re-nocking the white nocks, including 21 serious injuries. An additional 28 new finger injuries have been reported since the original recall announcement in December 2017.
