Cinmar Recalls Magnetic Travel Maps Due to Magnet Ingestion Risk

Cinmar LLC is recalling approximately 4,500 World Magnetic Travel Maps with burlwood frames. These maps, which measure 54 inches wide and 36 inches tall, were sold exclusively at Frontgate retail and outlet stores and online from October 2015 through March 2016 for about $225. The affected products have item number 145684 printed on the packaging and come with 50 magnetic markers.
The recall is due to the risk of magnet ingestion by children. When two or more magnets are swallowed, they can link together inside the intestines and clamp onto body tissues. This can cause intestinal obstructions, perforations, sepsis, and death, as well as other serious lifelong health effects. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers should immediately stop using the magnetic markers that came with the product, keep them out of reach of children, and dispose of or recycle them. Cinmar is contacting consumers who purchased the products directly to provide instructions on how to receive replacement magnets.
