Plain-English summary
Direct Distributors Inc. is recalling approximately 200 4-inch air angle grinders with model number 20687. The recall is due to a defect in the spring-loaded safety switch, which can fail and allow the grinder to turn on even when the safety switch is locked in place. This malfunction poses a risk of laceration to fingers, hands, or other body parts.
The affected grinders have a blue handle, and some models feature the ASC logo on the top. The model number is printed on the packaging. These units were sold at Agri Supply stores in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, as well as online at www.agrisupply.com, from January 2015 to April 2016 for approximately $40. The grinders were manufactured in China.
Direct Distributors has received one report of the safety spring failing, which resulted in a finger laceration. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled angle grinders and return them to Direct Distributors or any Agri Supply Company location for a full refund. For more information, consumers can contact Direct Distributors toll-free at 877-564-8669 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, by email at [email protected], or online at www.agrisupply.com by clicking on "Safety Recall Notice".
