The recall involves 18 mm wide nylon runners that are 60 cm (24 inches) or 120 cm (48 inches) long and feature a tape splice, where two cut ends are joined by masking tape. These products were sold in red, blue, gold, green, gray, and purple, and have "CE 0333" and 2014 or 2015 printed on the sewn-in label.

The recalled nylon runners may fail in normal use, which poses a risk of death or injury due to a fall. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. The products were manufactured in China and sold from January 2014 through February 2016 for between $5 and $9 at retailers including Eastern Mountain Sports, Hansen Mountaineering, The Gear Coop, Peak Experiences Inc., REI, and other specialty outdoor stores nationwide, as well as online at Backcountry.com and BlackDiamond.com.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled nylon runners and inspect them for the presence of a tape splice.
