What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Plain-English summary

IKEA North America Services LLC is recalling approximately 38,400 VYSSA SPELEVINK crib mattresses. The recall is due to the mattresses failing to meet the federal open flame standard for mattresses, which creates a fire hazard. The affected mattresses are 52 inches long and 27 1/2 inches wide, white with blue piping, and feature an identification label with the model name and date of manufacture. Mattresses made after July 2007 also include a federal tag at the foot of the mattress.

These mattresses were sold at IKEA stores nationwide and online from October 2000 through May 2014 for approximately $100. The VYSSA SPELEVINK crib mattresses were previously recalled in January 2015 and May 2015 for entrapment hazards. Mattresses provided as exchanges during those previous recalls are also included in this current recall program.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled crib mattresses and return them to any IKEA store for a full refund. For more information, consumers can contact IKEA toll-free at 888-966-4532 or visit www.ikea-usa.com and click on the recall link at the top of the page.
