WindowTex is recalling approximately 6,800 custom-made fabric roller window shades. The recall involves shades raised and lowered by a side-mounted chain that feature an idler with a steel pin inserted into one end of the roller tube. This steel pin connects the window shade to the metal mounting bracket. The affected idlers have model number D15T (used with a 1½-inch roller tube) or model number D20T (used with a 2-inch roller tube).

The steel pin can become dislodged from the idler, which may cause the shade to fall from the mounting bracket. This poses a risk of injury from impact to the consumer. WindowTex has received six reports of steel pins becoming dislodged, causing some shades to fall, but no injuries have been reported.

The recalled shades were sold by WindowTex authorized dealers nationwide from April 2014 through June 2014 for between $100 and $500. Consumers should immediately contact the place of purchase for instructions on scheduling a service call for free replacement idlers.
