The recall is due to a strangulation hazard for small children. The shades feature a clear, P-shaped plastic hook used as a hold-down device for the cord or chain. The cord or chain loop can slip out of this device, creating a loop that poses a strangulation risk. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

Consumers should contact Blinds To Go customer service at (800) 254-6377 to order a free retrofit kit that includes a new hold-down device and instructions. Alternatively, customers can bring the window shades to a local showroom to have the new device fitted. Customer service is available from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET on Sunday.
