Fred & Friends Recalls Infant Pacifiers Due to Choking Hazard

These pacifiers are made of plastic and silicone rubber and measure about 2 inches wide and 1½ inches tall.

The recall is being issued because the pacifiers fail to meet federal safety standards. Specifically, the beard on the Artiste and the knob on the Volume pacifiers can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. Additionally, the ventilation holes on the Volume and Panic pacifier guards are too small. Fred & Friends has received one report of the knob on the Volume pacifier detaching, but no injuries have been reported.

The affected pacifiers were sold at department stores, gift, drug, toy, baby product, grocery, and home decorating stores, as well as hospital and museum gift shops nationwide and various websites from April 2013 through December 2013 for about $10. Consumers should immediately take the recalled pacifiers away from young children and return them to Fred and Friends for a $12 refund. The company is providing a postage-paid envelope for returns.
