Fred & Friends is recalling approximately 47,500 Buff Baby baby rattles sold in the United States and 9,300 in Canada. The gray, dumbbell-shaped plastic rattles contain plastic pellets and measure about 5.5 inches long by 2 inches wide. The number "0.2" is embossed on both pentagon-shaped ends, and the product UPC is 728987019098.
The recall is due to a choking hazard, as the rattle's end cap can separate and release small parts. Fred & Friends has received two reports of rattle caps separating, but no injuries have been reported. The rattles were sold at specialty toy and baby stores nationwide, in Canada, and online at Amazon and other websites from October 2011 through June 2013 for between $7 and $10.
