These panels are affected only when used with an SLC-2LS Expander Module.

The recalled control panels used with the SLC-2LS expander module can fail to sound an alarm in the event of a fire. The software in the expander module is responsible for telling the system to sound an alarm and flash warning lights. No injuries have been reported.

The control panels were sold by authorized wholesalers and distributors nationwide from October 2008 through March 2010. The expander modules were sold for about $875 and the control panels for $2,285. These distributors resold and/or installed the equipment for use in commercial facilities such as office buildings. Building managers should contact Fire-Lite Alarms for a free software upgrade, and the company is contacting its customers directly.
