What this means for you

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (stroller brake failure) where injury has not yet been reported, fitting the High severity criteria.
Plain-English summary
Britax Child Safety Inc. is recalling approximately 20,000 B-Nimble umbrella strollers in the United States and 800 in Canada. The recall involves strollers manufactured on or after August 1, 2010, with model numbers U311771, U311773, U311775, and U311780. These strollers were sold in various colors, including black and silver, Cowmooflage, green, and red, at juvenile product and mass merchandise stores and online retailers between September 2010 and June 2011 for about $200.
The hazard exists because an audible click when the brake pedal is pressed can give a false impression that the brake is fully engaged when it is not. If the brake is not engaged, the stroller can move unexpectedly, posing a risk of injury to the child occupant. Britax has received seven reports of the brake not being fully engaged, but no injuries have been reported.
Consumers should immediately stop using their strollers and contact Britax for information and to request an improved replacement stroller. Those who resume use while awaiting the replacement should always ensure that the brake is fully engaged. For additional information, consumers can contact Britax toll-free at (888) 427-4829 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit www.britaxusa.com.
