Britax Recalls Strollers Due to Car Seat Fall Hazard

Britax is recalling B-Agile and BOB Motion strollers because a damaged receiver mount can cause car seats to fall, posing a hazard to infants.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural defect in a child safety product that resulted in reported injuries to children, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating (significant injury reports).

Plain-English summary

Britax Child Safety Inc. is recalling approximately 676,000 B-Agile and BOB Motion strollers sold in the United States, along with about 36,400 units in Canada and 4,600 in Mexico. The recall involves strollers equipped with Click & Go receiver mounts used to attach car seat carriers. The defect occurs when the receiver mount is damaged, which can cause the car seat to disengage and fall unexpectedly from the stroller frame.

Britax has received 33 reports of car seats disconnecting and falling to the ground, resulting in 26 reports of injuries to children, including scratches, bruises, cuts, and bumps to the head. Additionally, the company is aware of 1,337 reports of strollers with damaged Click & Go receiver mounts. The strollers were sold at retailers including Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby, Target, and online at Amazon.com and other websites from May 2011 through February 2017.

Consumers should immediately stop using the Click & Go receiver mounts. Owners of single strollers should contact Britax for a free repair kit. Owners of double strollers should stop using them with car seats attached. Consumers can continue to use the stroller or car seat independently without the car seat attached to the stroller frame.
