The recall is due to a defect where the joint connection between the horizontal top beam and the vertical end bracket and support post system can crack and break. This failure poses a fall and impact hazard to users. Kompan received 19 reports from BigToys regarding swings where end brackets were replaced due to actual or potential cracking or breakage at the joint. Additionally, the firm received three reports of minor injuries to users, though the company has been unable to verify the cause or nature of these injuries.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled swing sets and remove the chains connecting the seats to the top beam. Kompan is contacting affected customers directly by telephone and mail to advise them to stop using the equipment. A retrofit kit with installation instructions will be provided to all affected customers. Kompan will follow up by telephone and email after the retrofits are delivered to confirm installation.
