Silent Diving Systems LLC is recalling approximately 820 crimped low-pressure diving hoses manufactured by Ambient Pressure Diving Ltd. These hoses are used to carry the air supply in re-breathing diving systems and were sold on the Inspiration, Evolution, and Evolution Plus models. The recall includes specific model numbers such as AP300/15, RB20/03, and EV20/03, identified by a smooth (uncrimped) collar. Hoses with eight flats on the collar are not included in the recall.
The hazard exists because the hoses may have been made without crimps, which can allow gas to leak or water to enter the re-breather unit of the scuba diving equipment. This failure poses a drowning hazard to the user. No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.
The affected hoses were sold nationwide by Silent Diving Systems from January 2007 through August 2008 for about $60. Consumers with the recalled hoses should immediately stop using them and contact Silent Diving Systems to receive a replacement hose. All known purchasers have been contacted directly by the company regarding the recall.
