Crane Plumbing LLC is recalling approximately 5,500 acrylic whirlpool bathtubs sold nationwide from March 2007 through February 2009. The recalled tubs feature 6 to 12 jets and display the Crane logo on the whirlpool or air control valve. They were sold at home improvement, retail, and wholesale stores for between $700 and $2,700.

The recall is due to a hazard where the drain covers can entangle a bather's hair in the openings. This entanglement can hold the bather's head under water, creating a risk of drowning. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that no injuries have been associated with this defect.
