Plain-English summary
Manttra Inc. is recalling approximately 38,250 Manttra Smart Series five-piece stainless steel multi cooker sets. The recall involves model/code number 38270, which is stamped on the base of the 8-quart stainless steel cooker. The sets include a pressure lid, glass lid, steamer basket, wire trivet, and stock/pressure pot. The products were manufactured by TTK Prestige Ltd. of India and sold at major department stores nationwide from June 2003 through April 2007 for between $70 and $100.
The recall is due to a burn hazard. If the pressure cookers are not closed properly, the lid can separate and allow hot contents to spill out. Manttra Inc. has received two reports of hot contents spilling out of the pressure cookers, resulting in minor burn injuries.
Consumers should immediately stop using the pressure cookers and contact Manttra Inc. to receive a new replacement pressure valve (ZPD valve). For additional information, consumers can contact Manttra Inc. toll-free at (877) 962-6887 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's website at www.manttra.com.
