The hazard involves the lamp drive circuit potentially touching the shield case. If this occurs, the unit is not grounded, creating a potential for electric shock if a person contacts the metal terminals at the back of the unit. Panasonic has received two reports of the lamp drive circuit contacting the shield case, but no injuries have been reported.

The affected projectors were sold primarily to commercial users through authorized Panasonic dealers between January 2005 and June 2005 for approximately $10,000. Customers should stop using the projectors immediately. Panasonic will contact each customer to arrange for a repair and retrofit at no cost. Consumers can also call Panasonic toll-free at (888) 411-1996 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
