Panasonic Electric Toaster Ovens Recalled for Shock and Fire Hazards
Panasonic is recalling about 11,480 Model NB-G200 Electric Toaster Ovens because the power cord insulation may be insufficient, posing a shock and fire risk. No fires or injuries have been reported, but four consumers reported tripped circuit breakers.
What this means for you
Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Our severity reasoning: The source explicitly states no fires or injuries have been reported, and the hazard is theoretical. While the defect poses a potential shock and fire risk, the lack of reported harm and the precautionary nature of the recall warrant a Moderate classification.
Plain-English summary
Panasonic Corporation of North America is recalling all Panasonic Electric Toaster Ovens, Model No. NB-G200. The stainless steel toaster ovens, sold nationwide online through Amazon.com, Costco.com, Panasonic.com and other platforms from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170 per unit, have a defective power cord.
The power cord insulation can be insufficient because a protective fiberglass sleeve does not cover it adequately, which poses a risk of electric shock and/or fire hazard. The recalled toaster ovens are identifiable by the Panasonic brand name on the front, temperature knob on the bottom, six pre-set cooking menus, and a digital timer with temperature settings ranging from 250 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The model number appears on the name plate label on the back.
To date, there have been four consumer reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets, and one report that the product stopped working. No fires or injuries have been reported. Consumers should stop using the toaster oven immediately and contact Panasonic for a full refund. The company can be reached toll-free at 888-943-2391 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, by email at [email protected], or online at shop.panasonic.com/toaster-oven-recall.
