What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (laceration hazard) where injury has not yet been reported, which aligns with the High severity criteria.

Plain-English summary

Pier 1 Imports, of Fort Worth, Texas, is recalling approximately 10,000 clear Glass Floater Bowl candle holders. The recalled items measure 3½ inches high, 10½ inches in diameter, and have a 3-inch diameter base. A sticker on the bottom of the candle holder displays the model number SKU 2040310. The products were manufactured in China.

The candle holders are being recalled because they can unexpectedly break, which poses a laceration hazard to consumers. There have been eight reports of the candle holders breaking, but no injuries or property damage have been reported.

The candle holders were sold at Pier 1 Stores nationwide from February 2005 through August 2005 for about $15. Consumers should stop using these candle holders and discard the product. Because the firm is no longer in business, a recall remedy is no longer available. Consumers may contact the CPSC hotline at 800-638-2772 (TTY 301-595-7054) for more information.
