Plain-English summary

CESSO, LLC is recalling approximately 15,000 Tree Lounge Tree Stand Levelers. These levelers are designed to be installed beneath the "Tree Lounge" tree stand to level the platform as the diameter of the tree changes during ascent or descent. The levelers are powder-coated green and feature a T-handle screw that spreads or contracts two tubes.

The recall is being issued because if the "Tree Lounge" is subjected to significant impact from a heavy load, a tube on the leveler can crack. Additionally, if the leveler is installed beneath the stand, the bolts attaching the leveler to the "Tree Lounge" can bend or begin to pull through the leveler. In either circumstance, users can lose their balance and possibly fall. CESSO has received three reports of consumer injury associated with leveler failure.

The levelers were sold nationwide through the firm's website, mail-order catalogue, and outdoor specialty stores from January 2001 through December 2003 for about $70. Consumers should return their levelers to CESSO, LLC for a free repair. For more information, consumers can call CESSO, LLC at (800) 808-1541 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
