Tahsin Industrial Corp. USA is recalling approximately 480 Ameristep Model 9203 Hang-on Treestands from the Grizzly Treestand Line. The recalled product is a steel fixed-position treestand that uses a steel chain for attachment to trees and features a camouflage-covered seat. The units were manufactured in China and sold at Kame's Sports Center, Kentucky Lake Outdoors, Sportsmen Center, and North Sylva Company stores nationwide from July 2004 through June 2005 for between $36 and $50.
The recall is being issued because the treestand's bracket can bend if not secured properly by a chain and if weight is applied. This defect can cause the chain to disengage from the stand, leading to the stand separating from the tree and the user falling. Tahsin received one report of a person falling from an unknown elevation while using the treestand.
