The recall was issued because the tree stand's hanging strap assembly could dislodge from the tree stand or fail to restrain or hold properly on the tree, posing a fall hazard. Summit Treestands has not reported any injuries or illnesses associated with the use of these products.

The recalled tree stands were sold at hunting stores and in catalogs, including Bass Pro Shops and others nationwide, from July 2012 through August 2012 for between $70 and $100.
