These products were sold under the brand names Samsonite, Royal Traveller, American Tourister, and El Portal. The specific model number 1804 is written on the bottom of the adaptor plug. The units were sold nationwide in travel stores, airport gift shops, gift stores, luggage stores, and discount department stores from January 2001 through March 2004 for approximately $13 each. About 187,000 units were distributed.

The recall is due to a design defect where multiple metal plugs can be extended from the product at one time. If a consumer touches an exposed plug while the adaptor is inserted into an electric outlet, they can receive an electric shock. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

Consumers should stop using the adaptor plugs immediately. To obtain a replacement item of comparable value or a refund, consumers should call E & B Giftware LLC toll-free at (800) 624-5671 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.
