The recalled plugs are black or white plastic adapters with specific country or region names written on the side, including "NORTHERN EUROPE," "GREAT BRITAIN," "NO. AMERICA," "AUSTRALIA," and "SO. EUROPE." Plugs with "MADE IN USA" printed between the prongs or that have a screw between the prongs are not included in the recall.

The adapter plugs can separate, exposing live electrical conductors, which poses an electrocution and shock hazard to consumers. The company has received two reports of the plugs separating, but no injuries have been reported.

The adapter plugs were sold in sets of five at catalog and retail stores nationwide from April 2002 through June 2003 for between $10 and $40. Consumers should stop using the recalled plugs and contact Franzus Co. at (800) 706-7063 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or by email at [email protected], to obtain a free replacement adapter plug.
