Plain-English summary
The Betesh Group, of New York, N.Y., is recalling John Lennon crib mobiles. The recall involves about 47,000 units that were sold at department and specialty stores from June 1999 through August 2000 for about $39. The mobiles hang from white wooden dowels that attach to cribs with white clamps and feature colorful wooden cut-outs of animals.
The screws that connect the mobile's arm assembly and crib clamp can become loose if overtightened. This can cause the arms to detach and fall into the crib, potentially injuring the baby inside. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and The Betesh Group have received seven reports of bumps and scratches to babies after the mobiles fell on them.
Consumers should stop using these mobiles immediately. To receive a free replacement plastic mobile with stuffed animals, consumers should call The Betesh Group at (212) 686-4666 or write to The Betesh Group, One East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
