Fisher-Price Recalls Power Wheels Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Ride-Ons

What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where injury has been reported (cuts and bruises), fitting the High severity criteria for products where injury has not yet been reported as severe or fatal, but actual harm occurred.
Plain-English summary
Fisher-Price is recalling approximately 218,000 Power Wheels Harley-Davidson motorcycle ride-ons, including model numbers 74290, 74293, and 74298. These vehicles were sold nationwide at toy, mass merchandise, and discount stores, as well as Harley-Davidson dealerships, from September 1999 through August 2000. The red vehicles sold for about $190 and the black vehicles for about $700.
The recall is due to a hazard where the foot pedals, which activate the ride-ons, can stick in the "on" position. This defect can cause the motorcycle ride-ons to fail to stop and strike other objects, posing a risk of injury to children. Fisher-Price has received nine reports of the foot pedal sticking. One 3-year-old boy suffered cuts and bruises when his motorcycle ride-on ran into a home.
Consumers should stop using these motorcycle ride-ons immediately and call Fisher-Price to determine if their vehicle is part of the recall. Consumers with recalled ride-ons will receive a free foot pedal repair kit, which can be easily completed in the home. For more information, consumers can call Fisher-Price at (888) 289-9292 or visit the Fisher-Price website.
