The recall involves about 100,000 units sold in the U.S. and 20,000 units in Canada. The toy is intended for children 1 1/2 to 5 years of age and was sold at mass merchandise stores nationwide from April 2010 through September 2010 for about $45.
The recall is due to a choking hazard. The wheels on the purple and green cars can come off. Only the purple and green cars marked "Mexico" that do not have a yellow dot on the bottom are included in the recall. Fisher-Price has received two reports of a wheel detaching from a vehicle, but no injuries have been reported.
Consumers should immediately take the affected purple and green cars away from children. They should contact Fisher-Price at (800) 432-5437 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.service.mattel.com, for free replacement cars.
