Each campaign is identified by an NHTSA Campaign Number (a string like 25V123000) and lists every make / model / year combination affected. The most common vehicle-recall categories are airbag and seatbelt failures (the consequence is non-deployment in a crash), fuel system defects with fire risk, steering or brake malfunctions, electrical defects in EVs that can cause battery thermal events, software bugs in driver-assist systems, and child-seat harness failures. Recalls for tires almost always relate to a tread-separation risk in a defined production date range.
Every NHTSA recall is mandatory for the manufacturer to remedy at no charge to the owner, with no expiration. If your vehicle has an open recall, your dealer is required to perform the remedy free of charge as long as the vehicle exists. Honda is recalling certain 2025 Pilot vehicles because the third-row passenger seat belt may not function due to incorrect routing. A non-functioning seat belt cannot properly restrain occupants, increasing injury risk during a crash.

Polaris is recalling about 4,200 Ranger XD and Crew XD recreational off-road vehicles because door handles can stick, causing doors to unexpectedly open while the vehicle is moving. This poses a risk of occupant ejection and crashes.

Tesla is recalling certain 2023–2025 Model X, Model Y, Model S, and Model 3 vehicles because the computer circuit board may short, disabling the rearview camera image. This reduces rear visibility and increases crash risk.
Aston Martin is recalling certain 2024-2025 DB12, Vantage, and DBX707 vehicles. The infotainment home screen menu may obstruct the rearview camera when in reverse, reducing rear visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
