Vehicle recalls in our database all come from NHTSA. They cover passenger cars, light trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, tires, child safety seats, and motor-vehicle equipment. Each campaign is identified by an NHTSA Campaign Number (a string like 25V123000) and lists every make / model / year combination affected. The most common vehicle-recall categories are airbag and seatbelt failures (the consequence is non-deployment in a crash), fuel system defects with fire risk, steering or brake malfunctions, electrical defects in EVs that can cause battery thermal events, software bugs in driver-assist systems, and child-seat harness failures. Recalls for tires almost always relate to a tread-separation risk in a defined production date range.
Every NHTSA recall is mandatory for the manufacturer to remedy at no charge to the owner, with no expiration. If your vehicle has an open recall, your dealer is required to perform the remedy free of charge as long as the vehicle exists. DTNA is recalling certain 2019-2021 Western Star 4700 and 5700 trucks. An undersized wire in the ground harness may cause a melted connector, leading to engine stall and increasing crash risk.
Forest River is recalling certain 2020–2021 Vibe trailers because the roof vent for the refrigerator may be missing. Without proper ventilation, the refrigerator could overheat and create a fire risk, or carbon monoxide could accumulate inside the trailer.
Volvo Trucks is recalling certain 2020 and 2021 VNL and VNR trucks because steering gear fasteners may not have been properly tightened. Loose fasteners could result in loss of vehicle control, increasing crash risk.
