What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (tire failure) that explicitly increases the risk of a crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. is recalling certain 2024 ZR900C, ZR900E, and ZR900N motorcycles, also known as the Z900RS ABS, Z900RS CAFE ABS, and Z900RS SE ABS. The recall involves 525 vehicles.
The defect is caused by an improper manufacturing process during the installation of the sidewall rubber on the front tire. This can result in blistering on the inner surface of the tire, causing the motorcycle to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 119, "New Pneumatic Tires-Other Than Passenger Car."
A tire with inner wall blistering can fail, which increases the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the front tires free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2024. Owners may contact KMC customer service at 1-866-802-9381 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
