What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a vehicle safety defect (engine stall increasing crash risk) where injury has not yet been reported. The source states only the potential hazard (loss of engine power, increased crash risk) without mentioning any deaths, injuries, or hospitalizations, placing it in the High category per the rubric.
Plain-English summary
Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. is recalling certain 2024 and 2025 Ninja ZX-6R motorcycles. The motorcycles may lose engine power during operation due to seizure of a metal crankshaft bushing located in the engine's hard parts.
An engine stall increases the risk of a crash. Owners are advised not to ride their motorcycles until repairs are completed.
Remedy requires inspection of the #5 metal crankshaft bushing on all affected units. If the bushing is sound, the bolts holding the crankshaft together in the crank case must be re-tightened with proper torque. If the bushing shows abnormality or damage, the parts must be replaced and the crankshaft properly tightened, or the engine must be repaired or replaced. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification.
Owners should contact Kawasaki customer service at 1-866-802-9381 for service. Note: This recall was replaced by campaign number 25V798.
