2023–2025 Toyota BZ4X, Lexus RZ, and Subaru Solterra HVAC Defroster System Recall
Toyota is recalling certain 2023–2025 BZ4X, Lexus RZ, and Subaru Solterra vehicles because the defroster and defogger system may become inoperative due to electrical compressor failure, decreasing driver visibility and increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a vehicle visibility/safety defect where inoperative defroster and defogger systems increase crash risk. Although no illnesses or injuries are reported in the source, the hazard poses a direct risk of harm under real-world driving conditions, meeting the High threshold for risk-of-harm products without reported injuries.
