2025 Lincoln Aviator Trailer Tail Light Failure Due to Defective Module
Ford is recalling certain 2025 Lincoln Aviator vehicles due to a defective body control module that may prevent trailer tail lights from illuminating. Non-illuminating trailer lights reduce visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of collision.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a vehicle lighting defect where trailer tail lights may fail to illuminate when towing, increasing crash risk due to reduced visibility. No injuries or illnesses have been reported. While the safety hazard is real, the absence of reported harms and the potential rather than realized nature of actual consequences places this in the High category.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2025 Lincoln Aviator vehicles due to an improperly manufactured body control module. When towing a trailer, this defect may prevent the trailer's tail lights from illuminating. Approximately 213,121 vehicles are affected. These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108, which governs exterior lighting and related equipment.
Trailer tail lights that do not illuminate as intended significantly reduce visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of traffic collisions.
Ford will repair this defect at no charge. Dealers will replace the body control module C on vehicles with fewer than 9,000 miles. For vehicles with 9,000 miles or more, dealers will perform a functional check and replace the module only if necessary.
