What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a structural vehicle defect creating a risk of engine compartment fire due to fuel vapor accumulation near ignition sources, meeting the criterion for 'risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.' No deaths or reported injuries are mentioned in the source.

Plain-English summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022 Lincoln Corsair vehicles equipped with 2.5L HEV or PHEV engines. This recall also includes certain 2021–2023 Corsair, 2022–2023 Maverick, and 2020–2023 Escape vehicles.

These vehicles were involved in an incorrect repair under a prior recall (23V380). As a result of this repair defect, in the event of engine failure, engine oil and fuel vapor may be released into the engine compartment. These materials can accumulate near hot engine or exhaust components, which are ignition sources. This accumulation creates a risk of engine compartment fire.

An engine compartment fire increases the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.

If you own an affected vehicle, Ford advises you to park and shut off the engine as quickly as possible if you hear unexpected engine noises, notice a reduction in vehicle power, or see smoke. Dealers will update the powertrain control module software at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 27, 2025.
