What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 4 covers structural vehicle defects: the source states battery failure causes a loss of drive power, and the recall carries interim driving and charging restrictions with no remedy yet available.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022-2026 Ford Escape and 2023-2026 Lincoln Corsair plug-in hybrid vehicles. About 25,191 units are potentially affected.
A manufacturing defect in one or more of the high voltage battery cells may result in an internal short circuit and battery failure.
