2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Brake and Acceleration Software Defect

Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 'N' vehicles equipped with left-foot braking (LFB) and e-shift features. A software defect in the integrated electronic brake and vehicle control unit can cause reduced braking performance when left-foot braking is activated, and the vehicle may continue to accelerate unexpectedly after the pedal is released when the e-shift feature is engaged.
An estimated 1,589 vehicles are affected. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 25, 2025. Owners are advised not to use the LFB or e-shift features until the remedy has been performed.
Hyundai will update the software free of charge either over-the-air or through an authorized dealer. Owners can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for information or assistance.
