Audi E-Tron GT Models Recalled for Brake Hose Tears and Brake Failure Risk
Brake hoses in certain 2022–2024 Audi E-Tron GT models can tear and fail, reducing braking performance and extending stopping distance. Dealers will replace affected hoses at no cost.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall addresses a structural defect in the brake system where hoses can tear and fail, directly impairing braking performance and increasing crash risk. However, no reported injuries or accidents from this defect are documented in the source, qualifying it as a high-severity precautionary recall rather than a critical one.
Plain-English summary
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2022–2024 Audi RS E-Tron GT and E-Tron GT vehicles. The front axle brake hoses can develop tears, causing fluid leaks and brake circuit failure.
A failed brake circuit results in longer brake pedal travel and reduced braking performance. This extends the stopping distance required and increases the risk of a crash.
The recall affects approximately 9,653 vehicles across model years 2022, 2023, and 2024. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 6, 2024.
Owners should contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 to schedule a free replacement of the brake hoses. Additional information is available on the NHTSA website at www.nhtsa.gov or by calling the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
