2026 Audi Q3 Sunroof Software May Block Visibility During Closing
Audi is recalling certain 2026 Q3 vehicles due to incorrect sunroof control software that may prevent the operator from seeing the sunroof while closing it. This creates a risk of injury to occupants.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a risk-of-harm to vehicle occupants due to inability to see the sunroof during closing, but no injuries or deaths have been reported. Under the rubric, when no illnesses or injuries are reported and the hazard is theoretical, the maximum score is 3 (High).
Plain-English summary
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2026 Q3 vehicles. The sunroof control module software is incorrect, which may allow the sunroof to close from a distance without the operator being able to clearly see the sunroof.
The defect causes these vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 118, "Power-Operated Window Systems," which requires that operators be able to clearly see moving window systems. Closing the sunroof without visibility can increase the risk of injury to occupants.
Owners will receive notification letters (mailed on April 22, 2026). Dealers will update the sunroof control module software and the owner's manual at no charge. For more information, owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. The Audi recall number is 57KS.
