What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: This is a defect in the vehicle's braking system, a critical safety component. Although no injuries or crashes have been reported, the identified software defect that reduces braking performance and increases stopping distance constitutes a structural vehicle defect meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Hyundai is recalling certain 2025 IONIQ 5 "N" vehicles equipped with a left-foot braking (LFB) feature. The software that controls the integrated electronic brake (IEB) and vehicle control unit (VCU) may cause reduced braking performance when the LFB feature is activated.
Reduced braking performance can increase stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash.
Approximately 1,587 vehicles are affected. Owners who have not received the remedy should stop using the LFB feature until the software update is applied. Those who have already received the initial software update should not use the 'N' E-shift feature until the updated remedy has been completed.
The remedy is a free software update. Owners can contact Hyundai at 1-855-371-9460 to schedule service. This recall has been replaced by recall 25V-235, and vehicles previously repaired under this recall will need the new remedy applied.
