Cadillac LYRIQ owner manual misdescribes the rear outboard head restraints
General Motors is recalling certain 2025 Cadillac LYRIQ vehicles because the owner's manual inaccurately describes the rear outboard head restraints, failing FMVSS 202.
What this means for you
Cosmetic or documentation issue. No expected health impact, but the manufacturer is correcting the affected products.
Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 1 covers documentation issues: no part of the vehicle is defective, the error is text in the owner's manual, and the remedy is a corrected manual insert mailed to owners.
Plain-English summary
General Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2025 Cadillac LYRIQ vehicles. About 10,643 units are potentially affected.
The owner's manual inaccurately describes the rear outboard head restraints. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints".
NHTSA states that incorrect head restraint information may lead to improperly adjusted head restraints, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
GM will mail owners manual inserts with the correct illustrations and descriptions for the rear outboard head restraints, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 30, 2025. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
