Audi Q4 e-tron on-board charger failure can cut drive power

Volkswagen is recalling certain 2024-2025 Audi Q4 e-Tron and 2024 ID.4 vehicles because the on-board charger may fail and stop charging the 12-volt battery, causing a loss of drive power.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 4 covers structural vehicle defects: charger failure drains the 12-volt system and the source states this results in a loss of drive power.

Plain-English summary

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. is recalling certain 2024-2025 Audi Q4 e-Tron SUV and Q4 e-Tron Sportback, and 2024 ID.4 vehicles. About 13,769 units are potentially affected.

The on-board charger (OCDC) may fail and stop charging the 12-volt battery, which can result in a loss of drive power.

NHTSA states that a loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the OCDC free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 20, 2025. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
