This exposure could tear the air bag, causing the vehicle to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

In the event of a crash, a torn air bag cannot protect occupants as intended, which increases the risk of injury. The recall covers 5,224 vehicles.

Dealers will install cloth tape in the driver and front passenger B-pillar area free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 11, 2023. Owners may contact Audi's customer service at 1-800-253-2834 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
